A LEAP man previously charged with handling stolen property was in court on Tuesday to face a further charge of drug possession.

David Hill (29), of Dunscullip, Leap, appeared at Skibbereen District Court where Det Gda Martin Bohane gave evidence of arrest, charge, and caution.

Det Bohane said Mr Hill made no reply when cautioned on the drugs charge at Skibbereen Courthouse.

Judge Joanne Carroll extended the bail conditions from the previous court sitting which stipulate that Mr Hill is to have no contact direct or indirectly with any alleged injured parties or witnesses in the alleged stolen property case.

Judge Carroll also directed Mr Hill to surrender his passport and European travel card and not to apply for any other travel documents.

Mr Hill is also required to sign on weekly at Clonakilty Garda Station, and to provide a mobile phone number to the sergeant in charge at the station.

Judge Carroll also directed him to stay off social media and to only contact immediate family when using it.

He was also told to abstain from intoxicants in public.

The court heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) directed that the charge of handling stolen property would be dealt with under summary disposal in the District Court.

Judge Carroll granted disclosure of evidence to defence solicitor Colette McCarthy. The defence said it would apply for a variation of one bail condition, which the judge said should be done in writing.

Judge Carroll adjourned the case until June 23rd, remanding Mr Hill on continuing bail.
