ROSSCARBERY, Bandon and Kilmacabea produced terrific Cork Credit Unions Cork LGFA county league displays on a weekend blighted by walkovers around the county.
Clonakilty concluded their Division 1 Group 1 county league section with defeat at home to Carrigaline on Sunday.
The Brewery Town were missing a host of first-team regulars but trailed by a single point at the short whistle, 1-2 to 0-4. Carrigaline moved up the gears in the second period and ran out 2-9 to 0-7 winners. Despite the defeat, Aisling Moloney kicked five points with Siofra Pattwell adding another two.

Group 1 pacesetters Kinsale, having already secured a top-two finish, were scheduled to face Glanmire on Tuesday evening.
Aghada completed their Division 1 Group 2 round-robin section with a perfect record of four wins from their four outings. Leading 2-8 to 0-4 at the interval away to Castlehaven on Sunday, Aghada went on to win 3-12 to 0-7.
Mourneabbey finished in the Group 2 runners-up berth thanks to a walkover from Naomh Abán. The Ballyvourney club failed to record a league win this season and will face O’Donovan Rossa in a Division 1 relegation play-off.

Rosscarbery produced a terrific performance to overcome Fermoy in Group 2 of the Division 2 county league on Sunday.
The West Cork club trailed by four points at the end of the opening half. An Áine Hayes goal kickstarted a second-half revival, before Ross edged a cracking contest 1-9 to 0-10. Ciara O’Rourke (0-4) and Sandra O’Donoghue’s (0-3) scores proved crucial to the outcome on an afternoon where Etaoin Hayes and Katie Murphy also contributed to Rosscarbery’s deserved win.
Rosscarbery must face group leaders Inch Rovers (who defeated Midleton 6-15 to 5-4) in their final round-robin fixture where another victory would help avoid a potential relegation play-off.
Division 2 Group 1’s round-robin section has been completed. Senior county champions Éire Óg overcame Douglas 1-9 to 1-4 and finished top. Bantry Blues were handed a walkover by Bride Rovers and, as a result, avoided relegation.
Into Division 3 where another walkover benefitted a West Cork club. Dohenys gained an automatic three points when Araglen Desmonds Buí couldn’t field.
In the same division, a superb Bandon display saw the Lilywhites fight back to earn a 3-11 to 5-5 draw at home to Mallow. Evelyn McCarthy, Clodagh Barry, Laura Cummins, Caoimhe O’Regan and Hannah Buckley scores helped Bandon gain a deserved share of the spoils.
So, Nemo Rangers share the league’s lead with Dohenys with Bandon two points adrift in third place. Tadhg MacCarthaigh lie a further point behind in fourth.

A busy weekend in Division 4 saw Beara lose away to leaders Ballincollig 4-14 to 1-2. Despite the loss, Nina Murphy, Ruby Downing, Miriam Sheehan, Eimear O’Shea and Clare O’Shea stood out for the visitors.
Elsewhere in Division 4, Rockbán’s 4-15 to 5-2 victory away to Ballinora moved the former into second place. Third placed St Finbarr’s were held to a 1-8 to 1-8 draw at home to Abhainn Dalla.
In Division 5, Clann na nGael lost by a point at home to St Peters, 2-7 to 1-9, but remain in second place, three points behind current pacesetters Ballinhassig.
Youghal overcame Knocknagree 3-10 to 0-5 while Ibane Ladies got a walkover from Lisgoold. Those outcomes saw Ibane and Youghal join St Peters and Lisgoold in a share of third place, just three points behind Clann na nGael in an intriguing promotion battle.
The Bandon team that drew 3-11 to 5-5 at home to Mallow in Division 3 of the Cork Credit Unions Cork LGFA Division 5 county league.

Recently crowned junior D county champions, and current Division 6 league leaders, Ilen Rovers’ scheduled clash with Courcey Rovers was postponed.
St Colman’s took advantage by overcoming Naomh Fionnbarra 4-9 to 3-7 and joined Courceys in a share of second place. Macroom gave Glanworth a walkover in the same division. Kilworth had to concede the points to St Colum’s in Division 7 Group 1 – that outcome elevated the West Cork club into joint-second place alongside Passage. St Catherine’s lead Group 2, six points clear of the chasing pack.
Muintir Gabriels continue to set the pace in Division 7 Group 2, ahead of Mitchelstown and Carrigtwohill.
Kilmacabea’s first season competing in the LGFA county leagues continued in spectacular fashion on Saturday. The West Cork club proved too strong for a young Cobh outfit and registered a one-sided Division 8 Group 1 victory to maintain first place in the table.
Kellianne French (3-7) and Caroline Beamish (2-2) top scored for a rampant Kilmacabea. Jenny O’Sullivan, Nell Kinsella, Mags O’Donovan, Katie Whelton, Alannah Prendergast, Izzy Murphy, Ellie Jennings and Neela O’Donoghue also contributed to the Leap club’s latest success.
In Group 2 of Division 8, another West Cork club, Keelnameela, suffered a heavy defeat at home to leaders Dripsey.
