A CLONAKILTY man has been sent forward for trial at Cork Circuit Criminal Court over an alleged stabbing which occurred last year.
Bas Mulders, of Western Road, appeared at Clonakilty District Court last Tuesday where he was charged with assault causing serious harm and producing an article in the course of a dispute.
The book of evidence was served on him and the court heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that he be sent forward for trial.

The court heard that the accused was involved in an incident in which another man was stabbed July 22nd last at Western Road, Clonakilty,
Sgt Tom Mulcahy made an application to amend the charge sheet relating to the common assault charge, asking the judge to delete the word ‘alleged’. The defence made no objection to the amendment.
Judge Joanne Carroll issued the accused an alibi warning, informing him that if he intended to rely on an alibi in his defence, he must notify the prosecutor within 14 days of being sent forward for trial.
Defence solicitor Conrad Murphy made an application to receive copies of any recordings of garda questioning his client in connection with the investigation.
Bas Mulders only spoke to say he did not need an interpreter for his upcoming trial at Cork Circuit Criminal Court where he was due to appear on Thursday May 21st.
