Youngest of the Hurley brothers could be Haven's secret weapon in Cork SFC final

MICHAEL Hurley could be Castlehaven’s ace in the pack for Sunday’s Cork SFC final, according to coach James McCarthy.

The Cork U21 forward has endured a tough time with injuries over the past few seasons, but has looked lively in the Haven’s last three championship games as he forms a formidable inside line with his older brother Brian.

Indeed, three of the four Hurley brothers (Stephen, Brian and Michael) have scored a combined 4-28 in this season’s championship, with Brian leading the way with 3-18, Michael kicking 1-4 and Stephen adding 0-6.

‘Michael is another extra target in the full-forward line. He’s very fast, a good footballer and we haven’t actually seen what he is capable of yet. Michael hasn’t trained this year. We are minding from game to game. He’s only 19, he’s starting to fill out, he’s at the start of his journey and there’s a lot of football to be played there yet,’ James McCarthy said.
