TADHG MacCárthaigh, Rosscarbery and St Colum’s celebrated Cork Credit Unions Cork LGFA U21 county final victories over the Easter weekend.
Victories over Ballinora and Bishopstown sent Tadhg MacCárthaigh into Easter Saturday’s Cork U21D county final against Glanworth at MTU Cork.
Opting to play against a gale wind in the first half, the West Cork side found the net three times and defended superbly. It was 3-4 to 0-7 at half time and the Caheragh club restricted Glanworth to 2-1 in the second period.

As a result, Tadhg MacCárthaigh ran out worthy 4-9 to 0-8 winners to become U21D county champions. Katelyn McCarthy scored 2-1 and Alaia O’Sullivan added 0-6. Emma Hegarty, Katie Kingston (1-0 each), Amy McKennedy, Eve O’Donovan and Eleanor Keating also stood out for the winners.

Rosscarbery took on Watergrasshill in the U21F county final at St Michael's on Saturday.
Amid awful conditions, scores were hard to come by in the opening half as both teams struggled to adapt. But Rosscarbery bossed the second period and netted three times en route to a 3-9 to 0-2 win.
Ciara Hourihane played a starring role in Rosscarbery’s success, scoring 2-4. Laura Hodnett netted the winner’s other goal. Rosie O’Donovan (0-2), Etaoin Hayes, Aislinn Santry and Kacie O’Sullivan (0-1 each) also contributed.

St Colum’s met St Michael’s in Sunday’s Cork U21E county decider at Carrigdrohid. Having knocked out Bantry Blues and Beara, St Colum’s rounded off a terrific campaign by emerging 6-6 to 3-6 winners.
The Kealkill club bossed the opening half and changed ends 4-4 to 2-2 in front. Adding two additional green flags in the second period, St Colum’s registered a merited county final victory.
Clodagh Downey (3-1) and Niamh O’Sullivan (2-0) top-scored for St Colum’s in a final where Abbie O’Sullivan (1-0), Ella Downey (0-3), Maggie O’Donoghue and Seren Lehane (0-1) were also on the scoreboard. Sophie Daly, Muireann Cronin and Chloe Daly also stood out for a delighted Colum’s.

O’Donovan Rossa travelled to MTU Cork for a meeting with Naomh Abán on Easter Saturday. This year’s U21B county final pitted two talented teams against one another with the Ballyvourney club coming out on top amid poor weather conditions.
Rossas played against a gale wind in the opening half and were still in the game despite trailing 0-7 to 0-2 at the interval.
Naomh Abán powered to victory in the closing ten minutes however, registering a deserved 1-10 to 0-5 success, thanks to Hannah Scannell’s goal and five Róisín Lehane points. Joanne Kelly (0-2), Clíona Vaughan, Allanagh Hoare and Doireann Vaughan (0-1 each) contributed for the winners. Claire Hughes and Mary Ellen Kelleher also impressed. Éabha O’Donovan (0-4) and Lia Hogan (0-1) were on target for a battling O’Donovan Rossa.
Ballincollig picked up the U21C county title following a 4-9 to 2-4 defeat of Youghal last weekend. Also, St Catherine’s proved too strong for Mitchelstown, winning the U21G county trophy thanks to a 3-8 to 2-2 victory.
Castlehaven and Mourneabbey’s eagerly-anticipated U21A county final in Crosshaven was postponed.
