SAOIRSE Noonan is fast developing a reputation as a goal-scoring super sub.
The former Cork minor is in her first season with the seniors but she looks right at home at the top level – she has scored six goals off the bench in five matches.
Noonan made her senior inter-county debut as a half-time sub in the Munster final win against Kerry in late June and she stole the headlines with 2-2.
In Cork’s Group 2 win against Monaghan, she again came on at half-time and this time hit the back of the net twice in the 7-7 to 1-9 victory, and as a second-half sub against Armagh in the next game she scored one point.
In the quarter-final rout against Westmeath Irish soccer international Noonan came on in the 38th minute and scored 1-5 including two frees, and she followed this up with 1-3 (three frees) against Donegal last Saturday after coming on in the 36th minute.
That’s 6-11 as a sub in her five championship games to date, a dangerous weapon to call on during the All-Ireland final.
