CASTLELACK and Dunmanway Town bowed out of their respective 2025/26 SFAI National Schoolboys Trophy and Cup competitions last weekend.

Brinny based club Castlelack missed out on a place in the national stages of the SFAI National U12 Schoolboys Trophy last Sunday.

The West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League club travelled to Castletreasure to take on Cork Schoolboys League side, Corinthians A.

Castlelack played superbly throughout but were unable to prevent their opponents from registering a 3-1 victory. Simon Crewe scored Castlelack’s only goal.

On the same afternoon, Dunmanway Town’s terrific run in this season’s National U14 Schoolboys Cup came to an end at the Ballea Astro in Carrigaline. Carrigaline United defeated Dunmanway 6-0 and secured a place in the national stages, round of 32.

Those results confirmed Dunmanway Town U15s as the last remaining West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League representatives in this season’s National Schoolboys competitions.

A 3-1 victory over Castleview secured Town’s place in the round of 32 of the National U15 Schoolboys Trophy competition before Christmas.

The draw for the national stages will be made shortly and Dunmanway U15s will be back in action on the first weekend of February.

There was disappointment for the West Cork Academy U16 schoolboys following defeat away to Limerick District in Group A of the National Inter-League at the University of Limerick last Saturday.

West Cork lost 5-1 and finished third behind Cork and Limerick in the final group standings despite a battling performance and an Eoin Hickey goal.

The region’s oldest academy representatives’ season is not over. West Cork will go into the hat for the National Inter-League U16 Schoolboys Bowl competition alongside Clare, Wicklow and Sligo-Leitrim.

The U16 Schoolboys Inter-League Bowl semi-finals are pencilled in for the weekend of February 14th and 15th.
