COURCEY Rovers’ Saoirse McCarthy will captain the Irish camogie-shinty team in their International Rules Series clash with Scotland this Saturday.
Cork camogie star Saoirse will lead the Irish team as they take on their Scottish shinty counterparts at Bught Park in Inverness with the camogie-shinty match throwing-in at 12 noon, followed by the hurling-shinty game at 2.10pm.
This is the latest honour for three-time camogie All-Star Saoirse who is in the running for another All-Star this season following her role in Cork’s run to the All-Ireland final. She is also shortlisted for the PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year award.

There are more Cork connections to the Irish camogie-shinty team as Rebels boss Ger Manley will take charge of the team that features Cork star Ashling Thompson, as well as players from Westmeath, Antrim, Tyrone, Wicklow, Down, Roscommon and Tipperary.
GAA President Jarlath Burns commented: ‘After resurrecting the cross-code game with matches in Newry and Ennis in the last two years, it is fitting that our hurlers should travel to Bught Park in Inverness and I wish everyone well as relations and friendships between our organisations are rekindled.’
The double-header will be broadcast live on the BBC Alba YouTube channel and available at gaa.ie/shinty.
