Bandon footballer James O’Donovan (28) recalls the time when he was sent on a plane to America on his own when he 12 years of age ...

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 on how funny you are? In my own head I’m 10 out of 10, but in reality I’m probably about a 5.

Highlight of your sporting career? It’s a toss between winning the intermediate hurling in 2011 and the most recent county junior A football title with Bandon.

Most dialled number on your phone? Padraigin’s Pizza in Bandon!

What’s your karaoke song? Anyone would tell you I am very shy to sing but when I get the courage I know the words to Raglan Road.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? My mother put me on a plane to America by myself (switching at JFK) when I was 12 but now at the age of 28 I have to be escorted into town.

Best-ever holiday? Inter-railing through Western Europe with a group of lads from school. Started in south of France and ended up in Amsterdam. Epic!

If you won the lotto what would you buy first? My own private road so I could go bowling all day long without having to stop for a car or something.

Separated at birth, who’s your celebrity twin double? My girlfriend Deirdre says I am the head off Eddie Redmayne but I can’t see it myself.

What’s your favourite word? Ya!

If you could change any part of you what would it be? My groin.

Your most treasured item of clothing? I bought a pair of Timberland boots about eight or nine years ago and the lads gave me an awful doing at the time over them but I still have them and I still think they are the best things I ever bought.

Favourite cartoon?Pinky and The Brain.

If I was an animal then I would be a ... bird so I could fly where I like.

What question would you liked to have been asked in this interview? James, for taking the time out to complete this questionnaire, you have the option of taking a three-week holiday for two in South America or a cheque for €30,000 – which would you prefer?
