Former Kerry footballer Colm Cooper was on Cork soil last week so we thought, as you do, we'd ask him what he'd do if he found a pengiun in his freezer…

When Colm Cooper visited Bantry for the opening of the new SuperValu, we decided to ambush the former Kerry footballer with our West Cork Minute questions. A few moments in, Gooch asked who thought up these questions. We replied, our Sports Editor. Gooch’s reply, ‘I know him and tell him he’s a right bollix with these questions!’

***********

What’s the one thing you can’t live without? My iPhone, it has everything on it.

What would I find in your fridge right now? Lots of water!

Name one element your sport could/should take from another? Rest, this is huge, especially in the GAA because players don’t get enough rest, if they are playing inter county and for their club as well. We have to remember that this is an amateur sport.

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car? My next holiday.

Who has been the biggest influence on your sporting career? My family, I suppose. Our family is so involved in sport and I grew up with this. Also Dr Crokes because I have spent all my life playing with those guys and they have been a major part of my career.

Pick two celebrities to be your parents: I have no idea!

What do you think cats dream of? What! I have no idea … Who thought of these questions!

If you could play any other sport for one day what would it be? A professional golfer.

If you joined a circus, what would you perform? The biggest clown there.

If you could get rid of one county in Ireland what would it be and why? I’ll have to pass on that one. Answering that question would get me into the height of trouble!

What would you do if you found a penguin in your freezer? Close the door and just walk away!

Before we let you go, teach us something that we don’t know: I’m very shy and most people don’t know that.
