WHILE Clonakilty Soccer Club started 2026 in top spot in the PremierHiSpecCars.com Premier Division after a huge 2-1 win away to Drinagh Rangers, at the other end of the table Castletown Celtic’s hopes of avoiding the drop suffered a setback.
With Baltimore withdrawing from the Premier, and as a result are automatically relegated to the Championship, it means one more team will be relegated.
As it stands, Castletown are in big trouble, six points off third-from-bottom Drinagh Rangers B with just three league games left.

Over Christmas, Castletown lost 4-2 to Dunmanway Town, who led 4-0 after 52 minutes – Gavin Dullea, Ray Jennings, Nathan Mawe O’Donovan and Cian Collins were all on target. Matthew Draper and David Curtin pulled two goals back late on for Castletown, who still have to face league leaders Clonakilty Soccer Club next.
Drinagh Rangers B is the only team that could be pulled into the relegation scrap, and they lost 3-0 to Togher Celtic on December 28th. Inspired by a Paudie Crowley hat-trick, third-place Togher are sitting nicely in the title race – six points off Clonakilty and three behind Drinagh – with a game in hand.
After winning 7-0 in the Beamish Cup last weekend, Togher are in good form, and can join Drinagh Rangers in joint second if they win away to mid-table Lyre Rovers this Sunday morning.
