CARBERY footballers have advanced to the quarter-finals of the McCarthy Insurance Group Premier SFC without a kicking a ball, after UCC pulled out of their preliminary quarter-final tie scheduled for Sunday.
Carbery GAA learned of the development on Thursday morning when they were informed that UCC were unable to field a team for the clash in Ovens this weekend.
It means the fixture has been awarded to Carbery, who will advance to the championship quarter-finals, joining the club sides.

Gene O'Donovan's Carbery team had beaten both Duhallow and Muskerry in the divisions/colleges championship to reach this stage.
