BANDON Ravens are flying high after being crowned Cork Ladies Basketball Division 1 Championship winners.
It was a day to remember as the Bandon team powered to glory at the Parochial Hall in Cork, proving too strong for Cobh.
While Bandon led by five points at half-time, 19-14, they showed their class in the second half, outscoring Cobh by 28 points to nine. By the end, Bandon had won by more than double scores, 47-23, including an emphatic 18-1 advantage in the final quarter.

‘It's a massive achievement for such a new club to win silverware and a huge inspiration for the younger age groups,’ the club said.
Founded in 2017, Bandon Ravens Basketball Club began with underage teams and, in less than ten years, has grown to cater for U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U16, U17 and, most recently, a ladies’ Division 1 team.
In the past nine years the club has expanded from 30 members to more than 200, highlighting the superb work of all involved.
Catering for age groups from U10 right up to senior level, the 2025 season also saw the introduction of both a women’s and men’s social team.
Training takes place in Coláiste na Toirbhirte, with younger age groups (U10, U11 and U12) training on Saturday mornings. All other underage groups train on weekday evenings. The senior and ladies’ social teams meet on Sundays, while the men’s social team meets on Friday nights.
‘We are a diverse club, with members from multiple nationalities, and our senior team is made up of lifelong Bandonians as well as players who have recently moved to Bandon from other parts of Cork, Ireland and abroad,’ the club explained.
‘The club is going from strength to strength, with the 2025/2026 season seeing the club bring home its first silverware – a huge achievement for such a young club. And the season isn't over yet; our U14, U16, U17 and Division 1 teams remain in league contention, with final games taking place throughout April.’
