With financial support from the Harold-Barry Trust, Bantry Tidy Towns has replaced the two double-sided Birds of Bantry signs in the Slobs car park. There is now a bright, modern look to the new signs which display the remarkably diverse range of birds in Bantry Bay. To celebrate and preserve Irish heritage and language, all bird names featured on the signs have been translated from English into Irish. Bantry Tidy Towns has expressed thanks to Jim Wilson (ornithologist), Clare Heardman (National Parks & Wildlife Service), Designs & Signs, Eco Laser Solutions and Pat McSweeney Engineering for completing different aspects of the work. They have also thanked Cork County Council for their help in taking down the original signs and previously the Béicín Walk signs. The council also did a good job in painting the barriers at the entrance and exit to the car park.
