IT’S time to batten down the hatches in West Cork over the next few days as the county has been given a status Orange wind warning from Thursday night.
Met Éireann and Cork County Council have put the warning in place as Storm Callum looks set to sweep the country from 9pm on Thursday until 8am on Friday.
The warning is in effect for 13 counties in total, with spring tides coinciding with torrential rain and gusts of up to 150kmh forecast.
The Orange warning from Cork County Council states: 'Southeast winds veering southwest will gust generally between 100 and 130km/h, higher in some coastal areas and on high ground. Along with a spell of heavy rain and high tides there is a risk of coastal flooding and damage.'
