It seems West Cork’s travelling fairies are on the move again.

IT seems West Cork’s travelling fairies are on the move again.

Having moved from Rineen Woods earlier, locals now believe the little ones have left Dunboy woods too, because their handmade and painted doors have disappeared from the popular walking trail.

Liz Fenner and her sister were shocked this week to see over 20 handcrafted fairy doors, which had been lying against the trees on the beautiful walking trail, totally missing from their locations.

‘We have small children and it can be difficult to get them to go for a walk,’ Liz told The Southern Star.

‘The fairy doors really encouraged them to go, and every day the children were waiting to be taken to the woods to see the doors. Now they are all gone.’

And it wasn’t only Liz’s children that enjoyed their woodland walks. ‘We started getting messages from lots of the local parents who said that their children loved the doors and looked forward to their walks as well,’ Liz continued.

Now, just as with the case of the disappearing fairy doors at Rineen, Liz and the local children are hopeful that the little homes will return.

‘They really did brighten up the walk for the local children and I hope that whatever fairies took them will bring them back,’ Liz said.
