TONIGHT'S episode of Ronan Keating's Wild Atlantic on BBC Two will show him and his nephew Ruairí discovering the delights of road bowling in Castletownbere.

While visiting the Beara Peninsula, the singer also took time to call to Dzogchen Beara, a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist meditation and retreat centre in Allihies.

The show, which is supported by Tourism Ireland, began airing in Britain on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on Monday.

As part of the series, Ronan takes viewers on a journey along Ireland’s Atlantic coastline, visiting locations that formed part of his childhood holidays, as well as discovering new experiences and meeting some of the people who make this island so special.

Aidan Power, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Marketing, told The Southern Star that Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the production through its International Programming Ireland Fund.

'Our Atlantic coastline is truly spectacular, and we are excited that viewers in Britain are following Ronan on his special journey,' he said.

Ronan also expressed his delight in having been asked to front the show saying: 'It felt really special making this series, rediscovering magical places that have meant so much to me and my family.

'I was 16 when I left Ireland, and there was so much of the west coast I hadn’t seen. Now, I’m coming home, and I can’t wait for viewers to share all the laughter and tears along the way.'
