THE beautiful weather over the Christmas holidays saw huge crowds visiting the Christmas lighting display at the home of Michael and Chrissie O’Mahony of Kilbarry West in Dunmanway.
The display delighted people who came to view it and was a real treat for adults and children alike. The funds raised this year were divided between CoAction, Dunmanway, Cope Foundation (Cork and Clonakilty residential units) and the Irish Community Air Ambulance.
A presentation dance was held at the Parkway Hotel in Dunmanway, where a great night of music and dancing was enjoyed by a huge number of supporters. Music was supplied by Finbarr and Chloe Dennehy.
Michael and Chrissie were very proud to be in a position, due to the huge generosity, help and support of their family, friends and neighbours, to present cheques to CoAction for €1,500, to Cope for €1,500 and to the Air Ambulance for €1,030 – the total raised this year being €4,030.
Pat Holland, chairman of CoAction Dunmanway paid tribute to Michael and Chrissie and their team of helpers and said how invaluable this type of fundraising is to help CoAction to continue the work it does in the area. Joanne Higgins, who spoke on behalf of Cope Foundation, said that the funds will be put to maximum use within the Cope residential units and thanked Michael and Chrissie for the hard work they had done and congratulated them on such a huge amount raised.
Michael and Chrissie are grateful to everyone who supported both the lights display and the presentation dance.
