Rathbarry, West Cork, Ireland. 21st Sept, 2025. A charity tractor, car, truck & motorcycle run was held today in aid of Cancer Connect and Clonakilty Community Resource Centre. Well over 100 tractors, cars, trucks and motorcycles signed on to the run, which was held in bright sunny weather. Kealkill National School pupils having lots of fun through the very popular Reading Buddies morning where Ms O'Sullivan's fourth class pupils were paired up with the Ms Dorney's senior infants for Reading Buddies. The infants enjoyed listening to stories and sharing their thoughts and opinions, while the older pupils took pride in encouraging a love of reading. There was huge excitement for Darragh McElhinney and all the pupils cheered him on for his race at the World Championships last week.

Bantry Tidy Towns has expressed thanks to the staff of Rowex Sandoz and the 4B Transition Year students from Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí who took part in the Clean Coasts Big Beach Clean 2025 last Wednesday. The Béicín area, Cove, Snave beaches and Snave pier were covered. Over sixteen bags of rubbish (and a barrel and umbrella!) were gathered which is an incredible effort from everyone involved. Bantry Tidy Towns has also thanked Cork County Council for collecting the rubbish.

Cork County Council has announced the winners of the 2025 Anti-Litter Challenge. A record crowd of more than 170 people attended the special event at Cork County Hall on Monday September 15th where the leading towns and villages were recognised. The winning towns are Millstreet, Kanturk and Crosshaven. Macroom was named the most improved with Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh and Knocknagree winning the village titles. At the event were Joseph Cronin (projects, assistant secretary), Sheila Murphy, Lisa Manning (secretary), Richard Manning and Liam Walsh.
