It seems the sunny weather is coming to an end in West Cork as Met Éireann have released an orange thunderstorm warning for Cork county.
The warning is in effect from 2pm on Wednesday May 27th, until 4pm the same day.
The national forecaster has warned of the potential for severe lightning & hail damage, as well as slippy roads, impaired visibility and spot flooding.

Prolonged spells of hot weather can increase the risk of flooding when showers hit.
The baked-dry ground becomes hard and effectively waterproof, meaning the sudden deluge of rain cannot soak into the soil and instead quickly runs off, overwhelming local drainage systems.
