Libraries across West Cork are hosting a (Justice) league of special events for the Comic Book Festival 2025, taking place over the midterm break.
Superheroes and villains aged eight and upwards will have the opportunity to make comics on Wednesday 29th October with Fiona Boniwell in Carrigaline library at 11.30am, and in Kinsale at 3pm the same day.
On October 30th, Fiona will be in Skibbereen library at 11am, and Clonakilty library at 2.30pm. Meanwhile, on November 1st, there is a Comic Drawing Workshop with Colin O’Mahoney in

Macroom Library at 2:30pm. All events are free, but need to be booked through the library.
Meanwhile, there is ‘singing for the brain’ in Dunmanway library on the 15th of this month, in Skibbereen on the 21st, and in Bantry on the 28th.
A one-hour get-together for new mothers, ‘Matrescence’, will be hosted by West Cork-based psychotherapist Róisín Brennan in Dunmanway library on October 16th, and in Skibbereen on the
24th.
Other free and spooky events include a Halloween crafts and scavengers hunt in Dunmanway on the Big Day, October 31st, with a children’s chess club, Lego hour, and boardgames each Saturday as usual. Skibbereen also holds a chess club on Saturdays, and a Lego club each Tuesday from 4pm.
This month, there are also exhibitions at Schull and Kinsale libraries. In Schull, it’s the work of Tess Leak and Studio Ballydehob on display, while in Kinsale it’s the work of local Don Meaney, with his exhibition After the Storm.
