FIREFIGHTER Alex O’Shea, who last year set a new Guinness World Record for running a marathon in full firefighting gear, has a new challenge.

Alex, who lives in Ballineen in West Cork, is planning on running from Malin Head to Mizen Head, in another World Record Attempt, in September. Alex says he wants to break the current record of three days, 15 hours and 36 minutes, over a distance of up to 400 miles.

The run is the equivalent of doing 12.5 back-to-back marathons, and Alex will run in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Currently in training, Alex usually runs six days a week, and recently was placed second in the Bantry Bay Run.

Alex will attempt the run on Sunday, September 6th, and donations can be sent to him via the mycharity.ie website.

On mycharity, search ‘alexander o’shea’s event’ or see Facebook under the ‘ChallengeAlex’ page.
