TWO students from Kinsale Community School, Afric Deasy and Lily Cahill, achieved great success at the recent All-Ireland Programming Olympiad national final, one of the country’s most prestigious competitions for secondary school students in computer science.
Afric Deasy performed exceptionally well in the national final, finishing 4th overall in Ireland in a highly competitive field of the country’s most talented young programmers. Afric’s result represents a remarkable achievement at this level of competition.
Following their performances, Afric Deasy and Lily Cahill have both been selected among the top eight students in Ireland to attend an elite national training camp at University College Cork (UCC).

During this camp, participants will undertake further intensive training and assessment. The Irish teams for the International Olympiad in Informatics, which will take place in Uzbekistan, and the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics, to be held in Italy, will be selected from this group.
This success reflects the exceptional dedication and ability of both students and highlights the growing strength of computer science education at Kinsale Community School.
