This week West Cork looks to the East, where Caroline Dalton, manager of the iconic Fred Zeppelins, is rediscovering Foster the People’s 2011 album, Torches.

‘I randomly heard Call It What You Want again and the song just has all the best elements of 2010s indie, and felt so nostalgic.

The whole album is hit after hit, especially obviously Pumped Up Kicks but also Houdini.

I just love the optimistic vibes, clap along, feet stomp energy of the whole album’.

She’s also recommending rebel band BABYRAT’s first demo, after they recently won the Battle of the Bands in Cork City with a sound that lands ‘somewhere between The Strokes and Olivia Rodrigo’.

Meanwhile, back at home Sandy Gallagher in Violette in Skibbereen is listening to a lot of jazz in the shop alongside her colleague Sharon Rose, especially Gregory Porter and ‘his honey tones. I love him!’

At home, it’s anything and everything. Reggae features, but Sandy’s son Sean Finn is the dominant voice in the household playing Kingfishr, and enjoying the ‘really, really’ deep tones of Sean Rowe.
