THE body of a man has been found near the GAA club in Douglas in Cork city.

THE body of a man has been found near the GAA club in Douglas in Cork city.

 

Gardaí have confirmed to The Southern Star that they are investigating the discovery of the body of a man in his 60s at a house in the Galway's Lane area of the village.

 

Galway's Lane is a long lane off the west village in Douglas, and leads down to the local GAA club.

 

It is thought the body may have been located in an apartment in the area.

 

Gardaí are currently at the scene.

 

The scene has been persevered for technical examination and the body remains at scene. The State Pathologist has been informed and a post mortem will determine the course of the investigation. 

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Galway’s Lane area of Douglas between 10pm on the 1st July and 8:30am on the 2nd July to contact Togher Garda Station on 021-4947120, The Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

The Garda Press Office says that no further information is available at this time.
