THE newly-renovated Ballinspittle Garda Station will be assigned a member of An Garda Siochana before Christmas.

The Office of Public Works are currently carrying out substantial renovation works at the premises ahead of its scheduled opening to the public before the end of the year.

The garda to be stationed there is local woman Noelle Dwyer who is currently stationed in Kinsale.

Cork South West TD Jim Daly said: ‘I can confirm that Garda Noelle O’Dwyer will be assigned to take up duty in Balinspittle on Monday December 23rd just ahead of the busy festive season.

‘This is very much welcome news for the village of Ballinspittle and indeed for the local hard working committee with whom I have been liaising very closely to ensure that Ballinspittle Garda Station is re-opened.’

Minister Daly paid tribute to the exceptional dedication, commitment and courtesy of the local action group who campaigned tirelessly to secure the reopening of their very much-valued garda station.
