BANTRY Fire Brigade’s recent car wash was a great success, raising €3,500 for charity.

The fire fighters said the event proved to be very enjoyable as was the presentation of cheques to Bantry Bay Rugby Club, Bantry Rowing Club and the Brian McLernon Fund.

Ian Vickery said: ‘We would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors Designs & Signs, Bantry Tyre Centre, Bantry Hire Centre and Pitstop Auto Shop.

‘Thanks too to Danielle Delaney and the Brick Oven who appeared with a stack of yummy pizzas that were quickly devoured!

A special word of thanks goes to all the people that helped out with the bucket collection and washing cars, we couldn’t have done this without you, but the biggest thanks of all must go to the generous people of Bantry and beyond who gave so generously to these charities.’
