Fatal crash near Coppeen

THERE are reports this morning that one person has been fatally injured in a two-car collision at Coppeen East.

THERE are reports this morning that a woman, in her 40s, has been fatally injured in a two-car collision outside Coppeen on the Bantry to Crookstown Road.

It is believed the incident happened at about 9am this morning at Coppeen East, on a road which is part of a busy commuter route between Cork City and West Cork.

Although gardai have not confirmed the reason for the accident, other motorists reported patches of black ice in the area at the time.

It is thought the woman may have been travelling from Cork to Dunmanway for work.

Emergency services and gardai attended the scene.

The road is currently closed for forensic examination and diversions are in place.
