A STUNTMAN jumped from the famous Dursey Cable Car into the sea for the first time ever as part of the ‘Red Bull Jumps’ videos on Monday.
While the cable car was closed to tourists for the day it had the starring role in the video, which is tipped to boost tourism on the Beara Peninsula.
Speaking to The Southern Star, Paul O’Shea of Dursey Boat Trips said they provided support for the Red Bull media team and the event, the first of its kind, will promote the region.

‘They had cameras everywhere for this special jump from cable car including at the door of the cable car, at the station as well as underwater camera and drones,’ said Paul.
‘It was a Red Bull promotion for their social media channels and what was unique is that it was the first jump from the cable car which was undertaken by a Columbian stuntman.’
The video shoot took most of the day, while skipper Frankie Sheehan and crew member Caoimhe O’Shea took the Red Bull team out to Bull Rock once filming was completed.
‘We were contracted to take part in this and delighted to come onboard. We like to promote the Beara Peninsula as an activity filled region and we’d like it to be seen as a destination as opposed to a one stopover,’ said Paul.
Safety was of course paramount for such a jump with a private ambulance parked at the pier and safety crews positioned in the water.
‘There was a window with the slack tide across the Dursey Sound and that’s how the jump was made possible,’ explained Paul.
Red Bull are synonymous with their ‘Red Bull Jumps’. One previously took over Dublin’s Poolbeg chimneys, causing some controversy.
It is understood that the cable car was closed to tourists on Monday for the duration of the stunt but was open to locals.
