CORK County Council is asking people to recommend land that could be used for housing, writes Jackie Keogh.
The kind of land the local authority is looking for could include greenfield and brownfield sites, as well as infill and regeneration sites, provided they meet the guidelines that have been prepared under the revised National Planning Framework.
The new ‘housing growth requirements’ were published in July to update the revised National Planning Framework.

As a result of this now the local authority is asking anyone, including landowners, and homebuilders, to submit any proposals they may have online or by letter to its planning department in Cork.
Submissions will be received between 9am on Monday September 22nd to 12 Midnight on Monday October 20th next.
The online address is corkcoco.ie, while letters should be addressed to the Senior Planner, Planning Policy Unit, Cork County Council, Floor 13, County Hall, Cork.
These letters should be marked: ‘Proposals Requested in Response to New Section 28 Ministerial Guidelines on NPF Implementation: Housing Growth Requirements.’
The importance of having sufficient zoned residential land across the county was emphasised by the council’s chief executive officer, Moira Murrell.
‘I strongly encourage landowners, homebuilders, and the public to get involved in the process by making submissions that identify lands with the potential to accelerate housing delivery over the next decade, all of which will help to make Cork county an even more attractive place to live, work, and do business,’ she said.
