Canadian success for student

A Bantry student has taken third place as part of a UCC team at the International Graduate Competition in Montral, Canada.

A BANTRY student has taken third place as part of a UCC team at the International Graduate Competition in Montréal, Canada.

Bantry-born Alan Thomas, a graduate of the BComm in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, competed, along with Cork city students Emma Hayes and Shane Henchin, and Kate English from Tipperary, against 11 other delegations from prestigious international business schools.

The team of four worked through business cases to address issues involving entrepreneurship, marketing, organisational structure and public policy at the week-long event held at HEC Montréal.Teams had 48 hours to address a real life strategic business issue and present their solutions to a panel of expert judges.

Alan is currently completing an MSc, conducting market analysis on the craft beer market in Ireland
