BREAKING: Cyclist fatally injured on Ballincollig bypass

The collision involved a male cyclist in his 40s and a car. 

Gardaí at Gurranabraher in Cork are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the Ballincollig bypass in Cork this Sunday afternoon, May 14th, at approximately 12.25pm.

The collision involved a male cyclist in his 40s and a car. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The deceased has been named as Donal O'Brien (45) from the Ovens area, who was well known in the motor trade and in car rallying circles.

The road was closed to traffic and local diversions were in place while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. The local coroner has been notified.
