Gardaí in Skibbereen have confirmed that the body of a man was removed from the foreshore of the Ilen River at 5pm on Friday, March 29th.
A garda spokesperson confirmed that a member of the public made the grim discovery of the man's decomposing remains and that the emergency services assisted in having the body removed to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem and identification purposes. It is understood that the body may have been in the water for a long time but the gardaí do not believe there is anything suspicious about this incident.
