A DRAWING by a past winner of the Texaco Children’s Art Competition from Bandon is currently being used on a television ad to promote this year’s event.
Aleksandra (inset) Fudali’s artwork, ‘Portrait of a Girl’, won second prize in the competition in 2010 when she was in Transition Year at St Brogan’s College.
She told The Southern Star: ‘It’s pretty amazing that they are using my artwork considering it’s eight years since I drew it, but I guess it shows that they really liked it a lot. I’m shocked and happy that they did.’
She said the ad brought back good memories for her.
‘I recently met my former art teacher Mairead Sheehan in St Brogan’s College to talk about it. She was a great supporter of mine and encouraged me to enter the competitions when I was in school there.’
Coming second in 2010, Aleksandra went on to claim the top prize two years later with a self-portrait entitled ‘My future is yet to be written’.
‘I have continued to draw and I do quite a few private commissions for friends on the side. I like to keep it up as a hobby,’ added Aleksandra.
Following her Leaving Cert, Aleksandra went onto study Applied Psychology in UCC and then completed a Masters in Applied Positive and Coaching Psychology. She is now running a successful Wellness Coach business.
