BALLYDEHOB playground is set to open before summer 2026, it has emerged.
The contract for its construction has been award with a target completion date of the end of March 2026.
Cork South West Fine Gael Senator Noel O’Donovan welcomed the development describing it as ‘brilliant news for the community in Ballydehob and wider Mizen peninsula’.

He said he had worked with the community group and the county council, along with Fine Gael Cllr Caroline Cronin, to see the project through to fruition.
He added: ‘I am delighted to see that construction will now finally go ahead. ‘
Cllr Cronin commented that ‘this is a project that has been going on
for so long and I was blown away by the determination and commitment of the community to see this get over the line.
‘I am absolutely thrilled that we can expect our playground in Ballydehob to be revamped in time for the summer.’
Senator O’Donovan concluded: ‘This is a great achievement for Ballydehob. Playgrounds are wonderful amenities in towns across West Cork for children to get out in the air and socialise with peers.
‘I am working on several other playground
developments across West Cork which I am determined to see reach the same stage as Ballydehob.’
