THIS year’s annual Ahakista August Festival quiz has raised €1,600 for West Cork Rapid Response.
The quiz, which is hosted by BBC presenter Graham Norton, who has a home in the village, also raises funds for the Ahakista Community Association which is hoping to build a new community centre.
Festival organiser Eilis Hodnett said the festival was, once again, a huge success and paid tribute to Graham Norton and Young Offenders star Jennifer Barry for attending last Friday night, drawing a huge crowd and posing for numerous photographs.
Prizes on the night included tickets to the Graham Norton Show at the BBC, including access to the Green Room, and also a gourmet dinner for six cooked by local priest Fr Gerard Galvin in his home, with wine. Eilis said she was hopeful that Graham would host the quiz again next year.
