Festival season is almost drawing to a close, but not before thousands of Irish descend on Stradbally, Co Laois for Electric Picnic, arguably the biggest event on the Irish musical calendar.

After spending a day or two at this year’s Puck Fair in Killorglin – an experience that is as fun as it is unforgettable – I realised the importance of packing with care ahead of your festival experience.

When you’re in the swing of enjoying an outdoor extravaganza, the last thing you need to worry about are cold and wet feet, impractical clothing and limp, greasy hair. Because festivals are all about enjoying yourself, and looking effortlessly cool and stylish in the process, I have put together a list of my top five must-haves for your festival suitcase so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the music.

Give It welly

The first item of clothing that comes to mind when you think ‘festival’ simply has to be those trusted wellies. Go with a neutral block colour such as black or khaki to ensure you coordinate nicely with your festival attire. Alternatively, embrace your wild and wacky side with a pair of statement wellies, like these floral beauties. After all, if you can’t take a fashion risk at a festival, something is amiss!

Denim dudette

This fab button-up denim dress (above) would not only look fab paired as is with wellies and stacked bangles, but it is also a fab festival multi-tasker. Wear open as a light jacket over shorts and a t-shirt and you will find yourself firmly in the ‘festival trendsetter’ category.

Stack like a pro

In the go-to guide book for festival fashion, stacked jewellery would surely find a place in the opening pages. The look is a fave of celebs like Laura Whitmore and is so easy to achieve, yet so effective. Whether bangles, necklaces or rings are your thing, stack them high and proud and you’ll be sure to fit right in with the festival fash-pack.

Lip service

Because a music festival is the perfect environment for experimenting, why not incorporate this into your   beauty routine? A quick and easy way to shake-up-your-make-up ahead of Electric Picnic is by packing a variety of lipstick shades and chopping and changing as you see fit. You’ll have a whole new look with the flick of a wrist! Try the Vice Lipstick range from Urban Decay. With 100 shades in the collection, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Rain check

Make the most of a rainy festival (not meaning to be negative, but it is Ireland folks), by coming prepared with a stylish but practical rain coat. Make it an investment buy, by purchasing one that will also see you through those showery autumn days.
