Who are you, where are you from and what do you do?

I’m Melissa Duggan, from Dunmanway, and I work as a Supervising Pharmacist in Dillon’s Cross Pharmacy in Cork City.

What was the most unexpected gift you’ve ever received for Christmas?

One year someone gave me a Relaxation Hamper full of candles, bath salts and a book. It’s a lovely idea, except for anyone who knows me knows I can’t sit still for five minutes!

What is your favourite childhood memory of Christmas?

Waking everybody up at 3am and running down the stairs with my twin sister Michelle to see what Santa had brought, every year, Michelle’s pile looked slightly bigger.

To this day, she swears it was just the wrapping paper, but I’m not so sure

Name two celebrity guests, alive or dead, that you would invite to your Christmas party, and why?

Roy Keane because of his dry  humour

Michael Bublé as he can provide the christmas tunes

Something that’s not a Christmas tradition, but it should be – what is it?

A national Christmas Pyjama Day where it’s socially acceptable to wear PJs everywhere to Mass, the shops, the pub etc.

What is your favourite thing about a West Cork Christmas?

I love doing the Dunmanway Christmas Day Swim most years except for when it’s very very cold.

If Santa could give talents as gifts, what one would you like and why?

I’d love the talent of perfect time management so I could fit in football, work, family, friends, and still have time to watch a Christmas movie start to finish without falling asleep

What was the best thing about 2025?

The Doheny Ladies winning the Junior A County Final

Health, wealth and wellbeing aside, what are your hopes for 2026?

Getting to play football with the Cork Ladies again and making great memories with the team.

There’s no better feeling than putting on that jersey and representing your county.
