CARBERY Macra members are continuing a remarkable winning streak with celebrations continued at the National Talent Competition held in Blarney on Saturday the May 2nd, with Carbery clubs bringing home an impressive collection of awards.

Kilmeen Macra claimed first place in the set dancing competition, while Katie Cronin of Dunmanway Macra earned second place in the solo singing category.

Bantry Macra members Diarmuid Bilous and Patrick Triggs also impressed judges and audiences alike, taking second place in the comedy act section.

Congratulations were extended to all who participated, with members describing it as a fantastic night of talent and entertainment.

Meanwhile, May marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and to recognise the occasion a self-defence class was hosted by MaryRose Shanahan in Ballinascarthy Hall. All proceeds from the event were donated to West Cork Beacon, supporting vital local services.

Looking ahead, Kilmeen Macra will host a fundraising dance featuring Olivia Douglas on Friday May 22nd, in the Village Inn, Enniskeane. Tickets cost €15, with doors opening at 8pm.

Ballinascarthy Macra are also organising a tapas night in Molly’s Café, Clonakilty, on Saturday May 23rd at 8pm, followed by a social night out in the town.
