Atkins Bandon has recently been crowned the Agri-DIY Store of the Year at the 2025 Retail Excellence Ireland Awards, which were held last Saturday in Kilkenny.
The award comes at the end of a very exciting year for the company, and in recognition managing director Mark Wolfe paid tribute to everyone involved in their redevelopment project, and warmly congratulated the wider Atkins Bandon team for their achievements.
The Atkins Bandon premises was originally built in 1982 as a local service centre for the West Cork area, supporting the company’s main outlet on the Carrigrohane Road (the ‘Straight Road’) in the city.

Over 40 years later, the building had seen better days and with the company’s ambition to relocate, in time, from its headquarters at the Carrigrohane Road, it was clear that a modern facility was needed to better serve their customers in the western part of the county.
Planning permission was obtained for a modern, full-service farm and garden machinery outlet on the same Bandon site, and the work completed in May of this year.
The new premises is a striking addition to the town’s busy retail landscape and enhances Atkins’ offering in farming, hardware, and garden machinery for the wider West Cork region.
When the agricultural mechanics move in next January, the outlet will bring the number of employed there to ten.
Designed to a high specification, the store represents a long-term investment for the Atkins company and is built to stand the test of time.
Following positive feedback from customers, the store was entered into the Retail Excellence Ireland National Retailer of the Year Awards and last Saturday, this investment and hard work was justly rewarded at an impressive ceremony at The Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny as Atkins Bandon walked away the winner in the Agri-DIY category, the first time an agri-focused company has taken this award.
