Macra groups across Carbery are gearing up for a vibrant winter filled with achievements, community spirit and festive celebrations.

The season began on a high note with congratulations to Christy McCarthy of Kilmeen Macra, who represented Carbery at the Cork County Round of impromptu public speaking in Springfort Hall on November 22nd.

His strong performance secured him a place at the All-Ireland finals, where the region will proudly support him.

Movember fundraising is in full swing across Carbery, with men throughout the area growing out their moustaches and beards in support of men’s health.

The month-long effort will wrap up with a shave night on Friday, November 28th in Bernard Harrington’s, Glengarriff at 8.30pm. Attendees can look forward to live music and a hectic community atmosphere.

Caheragh Macra are also preparing for an exciting weekend as they head to Kilkenny for the All-Ireland basketball rounds on Sunday, November 30th.

Representing the region with both men’s and women’s teams, they carry the best wishes of all in Carbery.

December brings a festive lineup beginning with the regional Christmas party on Friday, December 12th at Kirby’s, Caheragh for a night sure to be filled with fun and celebration.

Beara Macra will host their Christmas Lights Tractor Run on Saturday, December 6th from Eyeries Church car park, followed the next evening by Kilmeen Macra’s own illuminated tractor run, complete with Santa’s arrival and live music in the Village Inn.

With community, sport and celebration at its heart, Carbery Macra is ready for a memorable winter season.
