As the year closes, Macra clubs across West Cork are marking the season with sporting success, community involvement, and festive events.

Caheragh Ladies claimed a superb victory last weekend when they travelled to Kilkenny for the All-Ireland basketball tournament, returning home as national champions. The Caheragh men’s team also put in a determined effort, but the result was not in their favour on the day.

Carbery Macra will host its annual Christmas party on Friday December 12th in Kirby’s, Caheragh at 8.30pm. Members are invited to enjoy an evening of food, drinks, and fun.

In public speaking, Christy McCarthy represented the region at the All-Ireland Impromptu Speaking finals. Although he did not place, his participation was brilliant.

Bantry and Kilmeen Macra took part in the County round of Capers, where Kilmeen secured second place and Bantry’s John Downey earned Best Male Performance.

Ballinascarthy Macra is preparing for its annual food appeal in aid of St Vincent de Paul. Donations will be collected during the regional meeting in Ballinascarthy Hall on Monday December 15th at 8.30pm.

Vouchers for grocery stores or Clonakilty outlets are especially welcomed, along with non-perishable items and cash donations to support families in need this Christmas.
