Carbery Macra is ringing in the new year with a packed and exciting calendar of sporting, social and cultural events, offering something for everyone across the region in the coming weeks.

First, Carbery Macra would like to extend its warmest congratulations to our members Kate O’Donovan (Ballinascarthy) and Adrian Buckley (Caheragh) on their recent marriage and we wish them every success and happiness in the years ahead.

The action began last Friday, January 9th with the Carbery round of the indoor soccer tournament which took place at Clonakilty Agricultural College.

Congratulations to Kilmeen Macra who were victorious in both the men’s and women’s matches which will send them off to Dublin on Sunday, January 25th for the All Ireland.

On Saturday, January 10th, Carbery Macra headed to Killarney for a training day in the Gleneagle Hotel, followed by a social evening. This allowed members to mix and chat with Macra members from regions all over the country.

The social highlights continue on this upcoming Saturday, January 17th, as Bantry Macra hosts a dinner dance at the Westlodge Hotel, Bantry with live music from Stacey Breen.

Doors open at 7pm with dinner served at 7.30pm sharp.

Finally, anticipation is building for the Carbery Titles on Saturday, January 24th in the Eldon Hotel in Skibbereen, starting at 8pm sharp where Carbery Mr Personality, Ms Blue Jeans and Queen of the Castle will be crowned and go on to represent the region nationally.
