A MAJOR new movie discovering where Cape Clear’s humpback whales go when they leave West Cork will be unveiled in Clonakilty later this month.

The movie, The Humpback Whales of Cape Verde, follows marine biologist Dr Berrow on a decade long adventure, taking him from Cape Clear off Ireland to Cape Verde off West Africa. And in pursuit of his answer, leading him on to a grand surprise.

On Wednesday 27th Jan at 7:30pm, the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, in association with Canola Pictures, invites the public to a screening in Clonakilty library of the movie.

Narrated by Liam O Maonlaoi, this film of adventure and discovery has its origins here in West Cork, and so is very relevant to local waters.

This is a free event and will open with a short introduction on humpback whales in Co Cork and the wider North Atlantic, by Pádraig Whooley, IWDG.

After the filming there will be a Q&A session. As places are limited to 50 people, booking is essential by email: [email protected] or Ph. 086-3850568.
