A DISTRICT court judge told a Bandon man caught in possession of cocaine that he looked ‘very pale’.
Judge Joanne Carroll heard the case of Daniel Looney Webb (23) at a recent sitting of Bandon District Court where Mr Looney Webb of 2 Castledon Court, Bandon pleaded guilty to the possession of the class A drug.
Sgt Eimear O’Connell told Judge Carroll that on December 29th Gda Sean O’Connor was on patrol on North Main Street when he observed the accused acting suspiciously with another male.

‘Sgt O’Connor caught up with him and carried out a drugs search and Mr Looney Webb handed over a bag of cocaine. He told Gda O’Connor that the drugs, which were valued at €70, were for his own personal use,’ said Sgt O’Connell.
The court heard he has three previous convictions for obstruction of a peace officer and public order, but none for the possession of drugs.
Defence solicitor Plunkett Taaffe said his client, who is soon to start a new job as a general operator, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and fully co-operated with gardaí.
Judge Carroll said she would adjourn the case until January 15th and requested that a letter from his new employer be furnished to the court.
‘If you haven’t come to the attention of gardaí by then there will be a positive outcome,’ said Judge Carroll, who asked if he has an addiction to the drug to which Mr Looney Webb said he did not.
Judge Carroll reminded him it is a hard drug, noting: ‘He is extremely pale.’
