Paul O'Donovan and Rena Buckley both shortlisted for award
GOOD people of West Cork, it’s time that one of our greatest sporting sons was recognised for his achievements – and you can help him.
World rowing champion Paul O’Donovan has been shortlisted for the RTÉ Sport Awards Sportsperson of the Year, and he needs your votes.
In September Paul (23) defended his men’s lightweight single scull crown at the World Rowing Championships in Florida, meaning he is a back-to-back world champion from right here, smack, bang, wallop in the middle of West Cork.
Some feel he is already Ireland’s greatest ever rower and there’s still more to come from him – but right now, Paul needs your votes so to vote for the Skibbereen Rowing Club star – or any of the other shortlisted sports stars – click here now and follow the instructions.
The voting closes on Wednesday 13 December at 5pm.
Also shortlisted are Rena Buckley, Ryan Burnett, Joe Canning, Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal, Noelle Healy, James McLean, Michael McKillop, Andy Moran, Conor Murray, Robbie Power, Jason Smyth, Katie Taylor and Joe Ward.
