THE results are in, and Newcestown have been given the nod, if ever slightly, to take the honours in today’s Cork PIHC final against neighbours Valley Rovers at Pairc Ui Rinn.

In our Southern Star sports poll we asked you, our readers, who you think will win this derby final, and 54 per cent have backed Newcestown to atone for last year’s county PIHC final loss to Ballyhea, while 46 per cent believe Valleys will clinch the crown.

Whichever team wins will have the honour of becoming a dual senior club, as both Newcestown and Valleys already compete in the county senior football championship.

Best of luck to both teams.
