SKIBBEREEN rowers delivered a series of strong performances as part of Rowing Ireland junior crews at the U19 European Championships in Brandenburg, Germany.
Schull teen Mattias Cogan, one of three Skibbereen Rowing Club athletes in action, teamed up with Evan O'Byrne (St Michael's Rowing Club), finishing sixth in the A final of the junior men's pair. It was a closely contested race between the crews in fourth, fifth and sixth place, with the Irish pair narrowly missing out to Hungary and Turkey.
Sam Wheeler O'Brien, from Ballydehob, and Harry McCartney (Methodist College Belfast Rowing Club) claimed victory in the B final of the junior men's double sculls.

Sitting in third position for much of the race, the duo produced a powerful sprint finish to move into second and challenge for the win, narrowly missing out on first place.
