EIMEAR Scally has an impressive medal collection for a 21-year-old.

She missed out on winning her fourth All-Ireland senior football medal last month after Dublin beat Cork in the decider at Croke Park, but she has added a Muskerry GAA award to her growing collection of trophies.

Eire Óg footballer Scally picked up the August award in recognition of her role in Cork’s march to the All-Ireland final. The classy forward scored 2-3 in the quarter-final win against Westmeath and was on target again with two points in the semi-final victory against Donegal, as the young Rebels returned to the big stage after an absence of one season.

She was a key player in a Cork attack that scored goals for fun this summer and she was unlucky to see a goal-bound effort in the All-Ireland final against Dublin cleared off the line at a crucial stage in the second half.

Even though she’s been on the panel since 2014, there’s a lot more to come from Scally in the years ahead.

It was no surprise either to see her nominated for a TG4 All-Star Award, one of 12 Cork players in the running for the accolades with the winners to be announced at a gala banquet at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday, December 1st.
