Former Republic of Ireland and Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan features in this week's In a West Cork Minute

Ronnie WhelanRate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 on how funny you are? (Laughs out loud) Oh God, that’s a tough one to start. I think most people I know would say 2 out of 10, but I’d probably say I’m a little bit funnier than that!

Highlight of your sporting career? Winning the FA Cup trophy with Liverpool in 1989 because it is something I always dreamed of since I was a little kid. Every kids dreams of that, don’t they? I also got the chance to lead some brilliant players up the famous Wembley steps that day. Winning a European Cup in 1984 would be a close second.

Most dialled number on your phone? Definitely my wife.

What’s your karaoke song? What’s the name of that Trailers song again? (Starts singing the chorus) ‘Trailer for sale or rent...’ King of the Road is the name of the song by Roger Miller, the singer, not the former Cameroon international footballer.

Best-ever holiday? I travelled to Cape Town a few years ago and absolutely loved it. It is a smashing place.

If you could change any part of you what would it be? My hair! (laughs out loud).

Your most treasured item of clothing? My most treasured item of clothing would be my European Cup winners’ jersey from 1984.

If I was an animal I would be a ... Racehorse! I’m not going to tell you why.

What question would you like to have been asked in this interview? (Lengthy pause and another long laugh) How are ya?
